Introducing, Our Next Black Belt Candidate
Alan Thomas
The Six feet, Six inch Brown Brown Belt is next in line for earning his Black Belt from the WTKDC. This willl make him only the second student from the Reston location to achieve this honor.
Alan was born in the college town of Champaign, Illinois on June 21, 1968, and attended the University of Illinois. He has always had a mind for business even in college where he formed a competitive industrial supply business with an old friend while securing his degree in Communications.
In 2002, he married his fiancé, Kathy. Just months after the wedding, he picked up an RCC guide and saw that they were now offering a Tae Kwon Do class, which was something that he had always wanted to try. Alan says that signing up for his first class was the best decision he had made in a long time.
In 2006, Alan started working as a contractor for the Federal Aviation Administration where he is currently the "Central Service Area Operations Lead" -- a position that is challenging, dynamic, and rewarding.
His hobbies have always been music, art, photography and electronics. He plays the guitar, the bass, the keyboards, and can (sort of) play the drums. As a matter of fact, he has a small music studio in his basement. Alan also loves biking, camping, and traveling, but most of all, he is a very big part of the WTKDC at Reston. Even tthough he stands over 6 and a half feet tall, his gentle voice and demeanor makes our young kids very comfortable with him..
Take a look at some of the past and present looks of Alan Thomas, our Future WTKDC Black Belt.
