The Washington Tae Kwon Do Club staff is a very experienced
and talented group of individuals. As you know, it takes a lot
of training and perseverance
to become a Black Belt, but it takes even more to become an instructor,
including skill, experience, and most of all - PATIENCE.

There
are several
levels of instructors at the WTKDC:
- the JOGYO - Apprentice Instructor (Jr. Black Belts)
- the SABUM - Instructor (1st - 3rd Degree)
- the KYO-SA - Instructor (1st - 3rd Degree)
- the SABUMNIM - Senior Instructor (4th Degree)
- the KYO-SANIM - Head Instructor (4th Degree)
- the KWANJANG - Master Instructor (5th Degree and above)
There is also the KWANJANGNIM (Master of Masters), who is the
head of the school, or the organization. The Kwanjangnim is like
the Principal of an educational school, who is responsible for
all of the activity, the staff, the students, the budget, etc.
of the school.
After becoming a Black Belt, the Jogyo must attend a specialized
Black Belt Training class. Here they learn how to teach the
fundamentals and techniques,
practical theories and applications, and most of all, the WTKDC mission objective.
Over the past 24 years, the Washington Tae
Kwon Do Club has developed and promoted several Black Belts
and Jr. Black Belts. We have more female Black Belts than most
other schools in the entire area.

Pictured are some of the top rated females in the area. From left to right are: Jamese Wyatt daughter of Master Wyatt), Janelle Bryant, Margaret Simpson, Lisa Matluk, Chanda Brown-Wilson and Rhashad Piper.
Not pictured are Nikiya King, Karissa Campbell, Brittani Criss and Karen Lawrence
We are
also honored to have one of the few “Female Master”
(5th Degree Black Belt) Instructors in the region. Each of these
instructors have more than 5 years of training in Tae Kwon Do,
some have even gone on to increase their knowledge and skills
in Tai Chi, Jui Jitsu, Akijuijitsu, Bondo and Kung Fu.
Together, these instructors have developed
a rigorous training program that has developed many of our
students into leaders and champions! Come in a check out the
uniqueness of their classes.
We
currently have several MASTER Black Belts and Black Belts that
teach, coach, and train our students. Those MASTERS and Black
Belts are:
