The Washington Tae Kwon Do Club...
25 Years Old and STILL Kickin'!

The WTKDC will celebrate 25 Years of service to our community!
Twenty-five years ago, the Washington Tae Kwon Do Club started its first class. At that time, we didn't have many students or even a name for our organzation. Now, we have evolved into one of the "Winningest" martial arts schools in the entire Washington Metropolitan Area; being recognized by martial artists all across the country.
We now have several locations, computers, transport vans, equipment and more than 30 Black Belts, and most of all, the respect of the martial arts community. Next year, we're going to celebrate our anniversary for 5 wonderful months, from May until September. After all, 25 years only comes around once.
We will start with our annual spring martial arts tournament, the JW Spring Classics, which will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Charles H. Flowers High School, in Springdale, Maryland. During the summers months, we will also have a weekend camping trip and training session Reston, Virginia, at the Lake Fairfax Park featuring the Water Mine Water and Splash Park, where we will "rough it" outdoors, sleeping in tents and cooking our food on grills, followed by early morning training and then a cooling dip in the splash pool. We're also having our outdoor picnic and reunion in the beautiful and historic Fort Washington National Park. In addition, there will a HUGE Workout and Fitness workshop, featuring Tae Robics and several other fitness workouts for Tae Robics members and their friends from all of our cite locations, including Reston, IMF, World Bank, Department of Justice, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Freddie Mac, InterAmerican Development Bank and several locations. There will also be martial arts weapons and self-defense seminars featuring some of the best Masters and Grandmasters in the region!
Finally, we will culminate everything with our 25 Year Anniversary Banquet, on Sunday afternoon, September 21, 2008.
Planning for each of these events is now underway, and if you would like to volunteer to work on any of the committees, please contacts us at (240) 461-8143. We will be glad to have your help. You don't even need to be a WTKDC member (but after you see all of the love and excitement, you will truly want to be!).
Continue to visit the site regularly, because in the coming months, there will be lots and lots of pictures of our early years and even pictures of preparations of the things to come.
